Robert and Lauren met in 2002 while they were attending New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. Although they aren’t quite sure of the exact moment in time they crossed paths, many are willing to bet that it was either at a Kappa Sigma social event or at the world famous (albeit defunct) Brew Ha Ha Pub over an oversized Long Island Iced Tea. The two spent four years becoming close friends before Lauren decided to seduce Robert with several cocktails at… you guessed it… the Brew Ha Ha Pub. Lauren’s side of the story often differs at this juncture; citing romantic gestures began much earlier during the “Summer Crew” shenanigans of 2004.
On July 4th, 2006, the two realized that what they had was much more than just a great friendship and decided to give up their independence to become an official couple. Lauren and Robert continued to have a great romance, even with Lauren moving to Albuquerque to pursue her career aspirations. After three long years, 50,000 miles of travel, and experiencing firsthand the true Battle of I-25, Robert moved to Albuquerque.
After a year of Robert and Lauren finally living in the same city, Robert decided it was time to “pop the question.” Cleverly disguised as a just a mere business trip, Robert talked Lauren into accompanying him to the Twin Cities for a weekend getaway. Having arrived a day prior to Lauren, Robert had the perfect opportunity to scout out the optimal venue for the proposal. Robert arranged a romantic dinner for two at the world famous Manny’s Steakhouse located in the W Hotel’s historic Foshay Tower. At the conclusion of dinner, Robert had secretly made arrangements with the concierge to present the ring. As you all know, Lauren said “yes”.
The couple recently bought their first home for their lap dog, Nixon, and can’t wait to share their lives together.
